Everyone needs a little emotional pick-me-up every once in a while. Sometimes I write little inspirational quotes down in my "Stickies" App on my computer or sometimes I'll purposely buy something that will endure as a long term reminder for something good every time I see it.
I like to call these, purchases with purpose.

I. Dogeared loves to spread positive energy into the world with their personal gifts. This Karma bracelet is their best seller. This bracelet believes what goes around, comes around...wear your bracelet as a reminder to keep the circle positive, peaceful and loving. 

II. This Juliska tray is one out of a series of cornerstone tray's. This one is the courage dish. The lion stands as a reminder to be courageous every day. The tray was made with the purpose to uplift the mind as well as the eye. Each dish in the collection celebrates "the cornerstone values of life well lived."

III. This map is a scratch off map. Scratch off where you've traveled to. Hang it in your home to remind you of all the wonderful places you've been, but also let it remind you of all the places you have yet to go.

This year I also made a resolution to try some new hair styles. I think my hair is only ever three things, 1. straight and down, 2. attempted curls that fall out, or 3. the infamous top knot [help me break free, it's become such a lazy habit]. Here's some new hair styles i'm forcing myself to try and hopefully like.
It's been said that your hair do is your cheapest accessory.
New year, new hair.

Now all I need is time to practice. Time is something I don't have much of these days!

Gasparilla is to Tampa, FL what Mardi Gras is to New Orleans.
This historic event is an annual celebration held at the end of January to celebrate the legend of José Gaspar [hence, Gasparilla]. José Gaspar was said to be the last of the buccaneers to raid the west coast of Florida [hence, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers]. The theme of the celebration of Gasparilla is a pirate invasion that takes place when a large ship of pirates arrive in Tampa Bay. The pirates begin throwing beads, coins and shooting cannons which then begins the parade.
The average attendance is 400,000 people and I am always one of them.
Getting dressed up in pirate attire is the BEST part.

I've been so busy lately! Finishing my move to Tampa is taking longer than I thought. I'm really excited to get working and get settled into a new place! I'm beginning my search for a new place to live next month and staying with my parents in the mean time. I'm expecting it to be a long process because I want to make sure its perfect! Size, location, price, etc. I'll keep you posted on the hunt.

In the mean time I can't help but day dream about decorating it. 

All I know is I want unique pieces of furniture, not store bought pieces that are a dime a dozen. 

I found a few unique pieces that I think are pretty cool...

This is an architect's blueprint cabinet that's being used as a coffee table! I absolutely love this idea and I did a little research and you can find used architects tables online at Craigslist & Ebay for about $200! The one pictured above is online for $2,200!

I also really like this idea of using a vintage library card catalog as an entryway table or sofa table. So many drawers for little trinkets. Can you believe they used to log people's book rentals A-Z by hand instead of using a computer? Sounds so foreign to our generation.

Craigslist had one for $485 but I bet if you went to some older libraries they might have them locked up in a room somewhere.

Maybe I've been watching too much Picker Sisters or American Pickers...or...maybe i'm onto something.
